Hey guys, I just downloaded the remake and whenever I go right on the first screen, break the topmost boulder and grab the key, the whole game freezes and severely lags down the computer. This happens no matter which of my computers I play it on.

Is there a fix for this, or a workaround? I've never played this game before, but after playing La-Mulana, I need to play this.

Help???

What version are you running, on what OS? The Windows, Mac or Linux version?
And what sound and graphics set? Might be it's searching for a non-existing graphic or sound effect (even tho that shouldn't crash the game).

I had the same problem.
Version from 15-04-2008. Windows XP

The problem is the file worldkey.ogg in mogdir/sound/original.

In earlier versions the dir sound/original contains the file worldkey.WAV

copy this worldkey.WAV to mogdir/sound/original and rename or delete wordkey.ogg

or replace with worldkey.ogg from the Jorito soundset

greetings.

Thanks for the feedback, that really helps! Apparently the ogg file is broken? I usually test with the Jorito soundset (mine ) and therefore didn't notice it.

Anyways, I will look into it, I expect we have an updated version tonight .

The Windows and Mac versions on the site have been updated; the old worldkey sound is back, and it works fine on my Mac now.

I'm not sure why this happened, it's smells like either an obscure bug in SDL or a very weird race condition in the code. Reverting back to the old soundeffect is the only way I could fix it for now, modifying the old one didn't work...

Please download it again to try it. If it still doesn't work, please inform us.

@sandy85: This thread is a year old (2008) and this problem has been fixed a long time ago

@patsie: looks like a bot, judging by the other posts. If this keeps up, I'll have to do some house cleaning
